Spirit |
Clubbing and spiritual cleansing may not be a natural combination for
most people, but Spirit's owner Robert Wootton thinks differently (he
calls Spirit a center not a club). His 35,000-square-foot throwback to
megaclubs of the '80s divides into three sections: Mind, Body and Soul.
Those seeking relaxation head to Mind, an open-all-night spa whose menu
includes crystal vibration therapy, harp massage and aura photography.
Partygoers who crave "live," all-organic food (none of it cooked, to
preserve natural enzymes) congregate in Soul, which overlooks the
violet-colored Body, a dance floor with 30-foot-high ceilings and
bikini-clad dancers.
The
DrawSpirit appeals to those with even the shortest attention
spans--every Saturday night, dancers perform odes to the equinoxes and
solstices. The eclectic crowd runs from die-hard clubbers to bankers,
but know that a space this weird attracts some like-minded souls - one Saturday night, about 60 people dressed as Santa were shaking it to hits from the '80s on the dance floor.
